Delegation of Kasem Watanachai from the Privy Council of Thailand Visited YAAS

On November 29, 2019, Professor Emeritus Kasem Watanachai, Minister of Privy Council of Thailand led a delegation of 20 persons to visit YAAS. The delegates included Kasem Watanachai’s wife Ms. Khunying Rachaneewan Watanachai, Assistant Professor Piriya Cherdsatirakul as a vice president of ChiangMai University, Assistant Professor Pawin Manochai as an acting Vice President of Maejo University, and so on. Their main purpose is to communicate and discuss science and technology to support and vitalize rural work, and exchange  experience in poverty alleviation.

Dr. Dai Luyuan, a member of the Leading Committee, CPC, vice president, YAAS, warmly welcomed the delegation. Mr. Dayun Tao, director of the International Cooperation Division, Dr. Chuisi Kong, deputy director of the Scientific Research Management Division, Mr. Jiawei Ma, deputy director of the Achievements Transformation Division, Ms. Xianqin Qiu, a scientist from Flower Research Institute attended the communication meeting.

Through introduction, the delegation had a detailed understanding of the history, institutional setting and research fields of YAAS. Dr. Chuisi Kong made an introduction on science and technology supporting for rural revitalization. Mr. Jiawei Ma introduced the methods and experience of poverty alleviation by science and technology.

Minister Kasem Watanachai highly appreciated the poverty alleviation work of our country and our province. He introduced the situation of poverty alleviation in Thailand, as well as problems. On this visit, both sides have learned helpful methods in regard to poverty alleviation.
